6 Simple Tips to Improve your Website Today

Websites are one of the most important tools in running your business. You always want to make sure everything is up to par as far as having a smooth experience for the viewer. Not only creating an easy experience for the viewer is necessary, but there are ways to optimize your website to the fullest so you are getting the most value for your business. Here are 6 simple tips to improve your website today:

1. Have an Opt-in with value

Have you been on a website and as soon as you get there or are about to exit a pop up appears to join the newsletter or get something free and all you have to do is put in your email? If you’re reading this blog then the answer is probably yes. Well you should have one of those as well! I wouldn’t suggest a simple subscribe to my newsletter pop up because let’s be honest, who wants to receive more emails in their inbox. You should be able to provide value for the person. Examples: A company that sells hair products can offer “A Free Guide for Healthier Hair with Products You Already Own”, or a clothing company can offer 20% off the visitors first order.

2. Email Marketing

Okay, so you are starting to build your email list. Now what? If you don’t already you should have an email marketing platform that will integrate with your website. I personally like mailchimp because it is simple to use and gets the job done but there are others that you can check out as well. So let’s say 100 people visit your website and 10 make a purchase. What about the other 90? Even if someone isn’t ready to purchase today, if they came to your website they are potentially interested in what you are offering. Email marketing is a way to keep them nurtured as a lead until they are ready to become a customer.

3. Consistent Branding

When someone lands on your website, they should have an overall sense of the brand. Are you edgy, conservative, fun, playful, kid friendly...etc. All this can be picked up by minor details such as font, color, and images used. A site that sells baby formula isn’t going to have a black or red backdrop. That would be something you would see more for a rock blog or something with edge. Take these small details into consideration and give your website a look at a gain from a fresh perspective.

4. Have an About Page

Tell your visitors about who you are as a person and/or company. If you have employees, include a picture and short bio about them as well. This creates a sense of trust as a business that someone is considering making a purchase from.

5. SEO

Search Engine Optimization. Make your website searchable and easy to find. How? Include keywords that people are searching for in different descriptions and images. If you need help figuring out what terms are being searched the most, use Google Adwords. You can type in something like jeans and it will show different forms that are more popular like (denim jeans, ripped jeans, blue jeans..etc). Also if you don’t have a blog, start one! This allows more content and keywords on your page on a consistent manner so people can come across your website if they were searching for the blog topic you wrote. Just like what I did here.

6. Mobile friendly

So you have made all the necessary changes and your website is looking much better… but did you check to see if it looks and works well on mobile phones? The website should allow you to check how it looks on a mobile version but I like to do so from my phone as well. So many people use their phones more compared to laptops so if your website isn’t mobile friendly then you could be missing out on a huge portion of people.

Take the time and check to see if you have these tips implemented in your website and if you don't then make it a priority to change and you will definitely see a difference.
